Last week on Love Your Melon Day, thousands of children's days were brightened as they received a warm beanie, a kind smile and words of encouragement from superheroes all around the country. We are so thankful for all your support, which made it possible to impact children at over 150 hospitals and Ronald McDonald Houses and give over 10,000 beanies total on Love Your Melon Day!
There are so many Love Your Melon Day stories and moments that will be forever remembered by children, families and those who delivered beanies. We want to highlight one of these special moments - a visit to Colorado Children's Hospital.
Two Denver Broncos athletes, Bennie Fowler and Demarcus Walker, attended a Love Your Melon Day giving event at Colorado Children's Hospital along with Campus Crew Members from UC Denver. The children's faces lit up with joy when they saw that two NFL football players took the time to come visit them, talk with them and give them a beanie!
Fowler, Walker and the Crew Members went from room to room, visiting children at various different stages of their journey through treatment. All of these children and their families are fighting an incredibly difficult battle, and having even a small bit of encouragement truly makes a difference. Laughter filled the halls and the children's smiles remained long after the visitors had left.
Because of you, days like Love Your Melon Day are possible, when thousands of children receive hats and visits they will never forget. Thank you for your support! Thank you to Bennie Fowler, Demarcus Walker and the many others who joined the story and took time to make a child's day. Stay tuned for more stories of giving events and adventures!
Our goal is connect with every child battling cancer in America. If you know a child battling cancer who has not received a beanie, let us know here!
