Since 2014, Love Your Melon Crew Members have been visiting The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to provide beanies and smiles to children battling cancer. The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is a leader in providing adults and children who are battling cancer with the best treatment available today while developing tomorrow's cures through cutting-edge research.
This year, your support helped us to not only deliver hats, but also to partner financially with Dana-Farber. This partnership funded a unique project and an amazing, therapeutic experience for children: the Day At The Beach mural inside Dana-Farber’s Jimmy Fund Clinic.
Hospitals are often a scary or uncomfortable place for children, especially as they experience the journey of pediatric cancer treatment. The Day At The Beach Mural is located in a wing of the hospital that children often go through or wait in as they experience various procedures, treatments and appointments.
Instead of this hallway adding anxiety and darkness to an already difficult experience, the goal of this mural at the Jimmy Fund Clinic is to add a bright, warm, calming atmosphere for these children and families.
The mural turned out beautifully, providing a relaxing escape to everyone who sees it.
