Every year, thousands of children and adults battling bone and blood cancers wait for a bone marrow match to deliver a life-saving transplant. Often, the right match exists, but it must be found before it is too late - this is why the bone marrow registry is so important.
Last week on Superhero Day, along with giving over 11,000 beanies, Love Your Melon launched a new partnership with Be The Match to host on-campus swab drives so that more patients with blood and bone cancers can find their cure! Be The Match is an organization dedicated to growing the bone marrow registry to help save the lives of individuals battling cancer.
At each swab drive, participants learned about the bone marrow registry and had the opportunity to take a swab and join the registry. Together, we hosted 95 swab drives, spreading awareness, growing the bone marrow registry and transplanting hope across the nation!
