Back in the spring, Love Your Melon introduced our first-ever Build Your Own Beanie Design Contest. With the help of our hospital and nonprofit partners, we received nearly 100 entries from superheroes and their siblings from all over the country! We were blown away by the creativity, imagination, and most of all heart that we saw through every single contest entry. Narrowing the designs down to our three finalists was a very challenging task for our design team! We then turned the final decision over to you – our community members – and you did not disappoint! We received more than 7,000 votes!
We are pleased to introduce our 2023 Build Your Own Beanie Design Contest Winner, Leah! Leah is a beautiful, creative, smart, and talented 11-year-old girl who adores dance, crafts, school, animals, and spending time with her family. Leah loves to write, draw, color, and design, and she is beyond excited that her beanie has won the Love Your Melon Design Contest!
Although Leah has been battling brain cancer for the last 2 1/2 years, she does not let her illness define her. Whenever she is not undergoing treatments and exams, she can be found acing math tests, dancing everywhere, playing music, spending time with her brother Jack and her friends, and snuggling with her rescue dog, Duffy.
Leah's beanie design is based on cool colors for the winter, along with sparkles, because she loves sparkles!
Leah’s beanie will be sold as a limited release on the Love Your Melon website in honor of Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month, beginning at 10 AM CT on September 29th! 100% of the net profit from the sale of Leah’s beanie will be donated Leah's cause of choice, Brain Tumor Research in the Boston area
