On February 13th, 2018, Jackson began to develop what looked like a burst blood vessel on the left side of his face. A slight discharge from Jackson’s left eye caused his parents to be concerned that he might have allergies or was getting sick.
His pediatrician acted quickly and requested blood work. What started as a trip to the pediatrician for what looked like possible pink-eye ended up being so much more. A few hours later, Jackson and his parents were called back to the office with the results.
At 18 months old, Jackson was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, an aggressive form of Leukemia. His prognosis was 20% survival and 90% chance of relapse. Jackson fought bravely for a year and a half, and continued to spread his contagious smile and personality wherever he went. Jackson passed away on July 12, 2019 and we are sharing his story along with Jackson’s parents to honor his legacy, his bravery, and his fight.
