FACE MASK FAQ
ABOUT THE FACE MASK PROGRAM
The Face Mask Collection involves over 40+ styles of face masks, button headbands, and ear savers to keep you safe.
Between the months of April 2020 and July 2020, the Face Mask Program was available for purchase under a Buy One, Give One program where for every mask purchased, a mask was given to the medical community. This BOGO program has enabled us to donate 612,800 masks to the medical community across the country.
Although the program ended on July 28th, we will continue to donate masks to the medical community throughout the coming months as requests come in until we reach our commitment.
As of July 28th, the Buy One, Give One program has enabled us to donate 612,800 masks to the medical community. Although this program ended on July 28th to make masks more accessible to the LYM community, we will continue to donate masks throughout the coming months until we reach this commitment number.
As face mask mandates go into effect across the country, we wanted to make our masks as accessible as possible to all customers by reducing prices. In order to do so, we not only scaled production and built up an inventory of masks, but we also removed the BOGO program on the face masks to further reduce costs and allow us to focus back on our mission of donating 50% of net profit to the fight against pediatric cancer.
You can request masks for your facility by filling out the form here. Please only fill out this form if you are a member at a hospital, care facility, emergency response team, or nonprofit organization benefiting children battling cancer and their families.
We are currently only able to fulfill requests for hospitals, care facilities, emergency responders, and nonprofit organizations aiding in Covid-19 relief. Individual requests at this time cannot be fulfilled as we prioritize those on the frontlines.
At this time, we are only sending donation requests directly to hospitals and those on the front lines. If you know a healthcare worker in need of masks, please have them request mask donations through and for their hospital here.

Yes, there are select styles in the collection that feature bendable nose wires for best fit. We are constantly working to improve the design and functionality of our face masks as materials and manufacturing capabilities become available.
Yes, there are select styles in the collection that have filter pockets. Filters are not included.
At this time, we do not sell filters for use inside filter pocket masks.
Surgical wrap is a material used typically in operating rooms. The material is a 100% recyclable polypropylene material that is moisture wicking and has a microbial barrier protectant applied. This material was recommended to us by the team at M Health Fairview to be repurposed into face masks.
We have one type of ear saver made out of corrugated cardboard. These are sold in packs of 25 and are designed to help alleviate sore ears. These ear savers feature 3 slots on both ends for best fit.
You can use ear savers to keep your ears comfortable and sore-free from face mask elastics, as well as provide you with a better fit if your mask is too large. Instead of hooking the elastic on your masks onto your ears, you can hook them onto ear savers instead to keep you comfortable.
Alternatively, ear savers can be used to “extend” your ears if your mask is too large or wide for your face. Simply stretch the elastic and hook past your ears onto the ear saver at the back of your head for best fit.
Yes, there are select styles in the collection that have filter pockets for best protection. Filters must be purchased separately. We are constantly working to improve the design and functionality of our face masks as materials and manufacturing capabilities become available.
The button headbands are made of a tri-blend knit material, and feature an encased elasticated back for best universal fit. The material is made of 50% Polyester, 37% Cotton, and 13% Rayon.
The Homer Hanky Masks will not be included in the Face Mask Collection and will not be available for purchase. We worked very closely with the Minnesota Twins team and Faribault Woolen Mill Co. to convert overstock of 2019 Homer Hankies into face masks. Together, we have produced over 10,000 of these masks, but all will be donated to healthcare workers, care facilities, emergency responders, and other members on the frontlines of the pandemic.
Before wearing or trying on your mask, we recommend washing and drying your mask or headband. You can find care instructions on the insert card included with your mask, or on the product pages.

In order to make masks more accessible and affordable to our customers, we not only scaled production, but we also removed the Buy One, Give One program. Previous pricing reflected our ability to give a mask for each mask purchased and this program alone has enabled us to give over 600,000 masks to the medical community. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the reduced prices, we are unable to offer price adjustments for previous orders.
If you are looking to order masks in bulk, please email give@loveyourmelon.com. Minimums will apply and will be dependent on the mask style.
Yes, we are currently offering custom face masks. If you are interested in custom-branded face masks, please email give@loveyourmelon.com for more information. Please note, minimums will apply and will be dependent on the mask style.

SIZING AND FIT
Yes, we have kids sizes available in select styles in our Face Mask Collection suitable and designed for ages 3 and up.
All of our masks are designed to be a universal fit, but we realize each person’s head may vary from the average. If your mask is too small to comfortably fit around your ears, we recommend using ear extenders or alternative household items such as rubber bands, string or shoestrings, to loop around the elastic loops and tie in a knot around the back of your head.
All of our masks are designed to be a universal fit, but we realize each person’s head may vary from the average. If your mask is too big around your face and does not feel secure, we recommend tying the elastic loops in a knot to tighten the fit. The mask should feel secure and cover both your nose and mouth.
Button headbands are available in adult sizes only and will safely fit head circumferences ranging from 18” to 24”. The headbands have an elasticated back, allowing it to fit a wider range of sizes.
Yes, our masks are designed to be worn alone or over PPE. If you are a healthcare worker or person on the frontlines, we highly recommend wearing our masks over medical-grade and FDA approved PPE such as the N95 mask. This will help prolong the life of medical-grade masks and will provide you with an additional layer of protection.
Yes! Once you have found the corresponding ear slits that fit your face the best, you can cut the ends off the mask so that it does not get in the way. Please follow the instructions below:
WASHING AND CARE
Our Cotton, Jersey, and Antimicrobial face masks are washable and reusable. Machine wash in warm or hot water with a mild detergent and tumble dry on high. For the best results, we recommend laundering in a wash bag to prolong the life and quality of the material due to frequent washing.
Our Surgical Wrap Face Mask is not certified machine washable or reusable as the surgical wrap is made for one time use. However, through preliminary testing, they have held up to washing, but we cannot guarantee that their function and appearance will not deteriorate over time. Reusing the Surgical Wrap Face Mask is at the customer or medical facility’s discretion. If reusing, we recommend machine washing in warm or hot water with mild detergent in a wash bag and tumble drying on high.
One Time Wear Masks are not reusable and we recommend disposing of after each use.
Our button headbands are machine washable and dryable. Machine wash on warm or hot water and tumble dry on high.
No. Most of our face masks are reusable and washable, but some are not. We recommend double checking product pages to ensure you are purchasing the type of mask you are looking for.
We recommend washing the mask after each use according to care instructions provided. With frequent washing, your mask may begin to see some slight wear on the fabric, but the mask itself should still function as designed. Although these masks are deemed reusable, due to the number of times it will be used and frequent washing, slight wear on the mask is expected. If you begin seeing heavy wear such as breaks in the fabric or tears in seams, we recommend you stop using the mask and purchase a new one.
